At one point, after performing an overtaking maneuver, the driver of the Mercedes forced the truck driver to brake sharply. However, the semi-trailer of the powerful vehicle, weighing several tons, did not have time to stop and the Renault hit the rear of the Mercedes. At first it seemed like nothing serious had happened. The Mercedes pulled over to the side of the road and, for some unknown reason, its driver immediately opened the door and got out of the car. Straight under the wheels of the truck, which has not yet stopped completely.

Renault hit a 49-year-old man who got out of his Mercedes after parking it in the emergency lane. Despite the services' attempts to save him, the driver died on the spot. It's unclear why he decided to step out into the lane – he was probably dazed after being hit from behind by his car earlier. According to the T-Online portal, the truck driver was also shocked and had no chance to brake the car.
The highway was closed for several hours. The criminal investigation department in Baden-Württemberg is currently investigating the exact course of events and the possible motives of the man when he stepped onto the road after the collision.
