The Powerball jackpot reached $1.817 billion after there was no winner in Monday's drawing. It is the second largest prize in US lottery history and the largest Powerball jackpot in 2025.
The winning numbers were 4, 25, 31, 52, 59 and Powerball 19, and the chance of winning was 1 in 292.2 million. The winner comes from the state of Arkansas, being only the second such case, after 2010.
The Powerball jackpot was previously won on September 6 by two tickets from Missouri and Texas, whose players shared a prize of $1.787 billion.
Jackpots increase as the amount accumulates when there is no winner, although the odds are much higher for smaller prizes.
“It is truly an extraordinary, life-changing award.”said Matt Strawn, president of the Powerball Product Group and CEO of the Iowa Lottery.
The jackpot was won once on Christmas Eve in 2011 and four times on Christmas Day. The largest jackpot offered in a lottery in the history of the United States was worth 2.04 billion dollars and was won in the Powerball lottery in California in 2022.
