The attack began on the night of Monday to Tuesday, when numerous Shahed-131/136 drones were spotted in Ukrainian airspace. In response to the increased activity of Russian strategic aviation and MiG-31K aircraft armed with Kh-47M2 Kindzhal hypersonic missiles, an air threat alert was announced throughout Ukraine.

Warnings before the holidays
According to media reports, the target of the attack could have been energy infrastructure in the central and western parts of the country. Explosions were heard in Kiev and its surroundings, and anti-aircraft defense was put on high alert.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky already warned in his Monday evening address that December 23, 24 and 25 may be particularly dangerous due to the risk of intensified Russian missile and drone attacks.
He pointed out that the situation requires the utmost attention and readiness on the part of Ukrainian services and citizens.
