The Russian military officer was the head of the operational training department of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Over the years of his service in the army, he was honored with numerous decorations. These included: the Order “For Merit to the Homeland”, 1st degree, and the Medal “For Courage”. He also received the honorary title of “Distinguished Military Specialist”. The assassination attempt on Lt. Gen. Fanil Sarwarov took place on Monday around 5 a.m. Polish time in the southern part of Moscow. The car exploded a few seconds after the soldier drove away from the house.
According to Russian media reports, the 56-year-old had numerous shrapnel wounds, fractures, leg wounds and broken facial bones. The Russian serviceman did not survive. It is not known yet who committed the attack.
