Everyone knows that limescale deposits accumulate in a teapot or coffee pot over time, especially if the water is hard. It not only spoils the taste of drinks, but also shortens the service life of the device. At the same time, vinegar and citric acid are not always at hand, and their smell can remain for a long time.
There is an easy way to get your kettle back clean. All you need is two ingredients from your kitchen cupboard.
What you will need:
baking soda – 2 tbsp. spoons
fine salt – 1 tbsp. spoon
water – 500 ml
How to do:
- Pour baking soda and salt into the kettle.
- Fill with hot water.
- Leave for 30–60 minutes.
- Gently scrub the bottom and sides with a soft sponge or shake if the kettle is narrow.
- Drain the solution and rinse the kettle with clean water 2-3 times.
Baking soda dissolves scale, and salt acts as a natural abrasive without scratching the surface. Together they remove even old plaque without leaving any odor or traces. After such cleaning, the kettle glows from the inside, like new, and the water is clean and neutral in taste.
The same solution is suitable for glass Turkish flasks, teapots and thermoses.
