The English champions failed to materialize the double advantage they had in Yorkshire, and thus, the Anfield Road team registered their 8th game without a win in the current domestic season.

Leeds bounced back from 0-2 and 2-3 with Liverpool to stay outside the red zone of the table

After 45 minutes in which no goal was scored, the second act of the dispute in the north of England brought a real football spectacle.

The visitors scored twice in the space of just two minutes, with Hugo Ekitike scoring both of the Cormorants' goals (48', 50'), each of which came after huge defensive errors from the Yorkshire outfit.

However, Daniel Farke's students were not discouraged and managed to equalize, repeating the recipe of those from Liverpool. Two goals in a span of two minutes.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin reduced the gap from the penalty spot (73'), the penalty being awarded after Ibrahima Konate's foul in his own box on Gnonto, and Anton Stach made it 2-2 (75') with a shot that went past the Cormorants' defenders and beat Alisson.

Dominik Szoboszlai put the English champions back in front in the 80th minute, however, and victory looked set to eventually go to the visitors.

However, in the sixth minute of extra time, Leeds scored once more in Alisson's goal, following a corner from the same Anton Stach, with Japan's Ao Tanaka setting up the final score and sparking the frenzy at Elland Road.

Liverpool missed out on a European Cup place

Following this result, the “cormorants” have accumulated 23 points and for the moment climbed to the 8th position in England. However, if they had won, the Anfield group would have moved up to 5th and level on points with Chelsea, the team in 4th place, the last team leading into the Champions League at the moment. Now the gap to the Londoners still measures two lengths.

On the other hand, Daniel Farke's side reached 15th and moved up to 16th in the table, overtaking Nottingham Forest on goal difference.

In the next stage of the Premier League, Liverpool will receive the visit of Brighton, while Leeds will perform at Brentford's field.

Until then, however, the English champion will face Chivu's Inter on “Giuseppe Meazza”, in the Champions League. The game will take place on Tuesday, December 9, from 22:00, and it will be possible to watch it in liveTEXT format on the GSP.ro website.
