Russian man sentenced to prison for harmless photo in Turkey
St. Petersburg resident Valentin and his wife were finishing up their vacation in Turkey and were already taking the metro towards the airport. The man took a photograph of the inscription on the glass of the transport “Seats for the elderly and disabled”, where, against the background of the inscription, elderly women are displayed, to whom no one gives way.
However, the photo included part of the face of a woman who was traveling in the same carriage. Other passengers noticed this, they rudely pushed the Russians out of the carriage and called the police.
The woman in the picture wrote a statement about sexual harassment, offering to “forget about the violation” for 10 thousand dollars, but the couple refused.
As a result, the court sentenced Valentin to 1.8 years of probation. While the man is in a migration prison, it is unknown when he will be deported.
