Hedgehogs are on the verge of extinction worldwide
The International Union for Conservation of Nature, which maintains the Red Book, has listed hedgehogs on the list of animals close to extinction. The decision was made due to the reduction the global hedgehog population by at least 30%.
The animals are on the verge of extinction due to active urban development, intensive farming and road construction. Often, prickly ones die under the wheels of cars and are poisoned by pesticides.
You can help restore the population in different ways: install low fences that do not interfere with the movement of hedgehogs, stop using pesticides, create shelters for hedgehogs from stacks of logs and build houses.
