Daniel Băluță “guarantees” that he will present all the documents related to his family's real estate assets after the elections. “It's bizarre that, after 12 years, certain interpretations appear”

Daniel Băluță, the PSD candidate for the Capital City Hall, declared that he has “nothing to hide” regarding his family's wealth and that “beyond Monday” he will “present to people absolutely the entire sequence of data and events, as the supporting documents appear.”

• The investigative publications Public Record and Snoop showed how, on December 21, 2023, Daniel Băluță's parents, state pensioners, bought 8 apartments in one day, for a total price of 480,000 euros. On August 19, 2024, a real estate developer sold land and a house to Băluță's brother on the very day that Mayor Băluță proposed approval of the PUD for a 6-story block of the same developer, in Sector 4.

On Thursday, on Digi24, the mayor of Sector 4 and the PSD candidate for the Capital City Hall was asked about this media investigation and said that, “after 12 years, people know exactly who Daniel Băluță is, who his family is.”

“I manage 5 billion euros, European money. It is, and it is normal for it to happen like this, to the attention of all state bodies. In fact, I have been extremely open about this every time, as is normal. We are in an election campaign. There are still a few hours until the elections. I take these things as such, as an inventory,” said the social democrat.

Asked if he promises that, regardless of whether he wins the elections for the Capital City Hall or remains the mayor of District 4, he will clarify these aspects point by point after the elections, Băluță answered: “I guarantee this, because beyond words, and that's what I used to people, are the documents.”

“Without supporting documents, the credibility that words have is not what we need. As such, after Monday, as these documents appear, I will certainly present them to all citizens, because this is normal and I have nothing to hide (…). I am the one who has a declaration of assets, my parents have a declaration of assets. Our assets have been verified by all state bodies. The transactions that my parents, my brother and all family members they did were checked by all state bodies,” he added.

“Beyond Monday, I will present the documents to the people”

Băluță claims that first he wants to obtain the “account statements”, “the letters from ANI certifying these matters” and “the letter from the National Office for Combating Money Laundering”.

“It is bizarre that, and this is not very right, suddenly, after 12 years, a few days before the elections, certain interpretations appear. For this reason, the most inspired and normal thing that any citizen of Romania, not only me, must do is to present to people absolutely the entire sequence of dates and events, as the supporting documents appear (…). Beyond Monday, I will present to people the documents that will provide these explanations very simply. I have never run away either of confrontations, I have never run away from the truth either”, Daniel Băluță also declared.
