The General Prosecutor's Office announced on Thursday that it opened three criminal files, targeting as many people, who sent death threats to some magistrates, following complaints made by the Superior Council of Magistracy.

“During today, December 4, 2005, the case prosecutor from the Criminal Investigation Section of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice ordered the continuation of the criminal investigation against 3 suspects, natural persons without special status, in three separate criminal files, for the commission of public incitement crimes,” the General Prosecutor's Office reported on Thursday.

The institution specifies that the crimes that are the subject of the three criminal files consist of acts of urging the public, through messages written on an online platform, to commit crimes of murder/qualified murder/judicial contempt against Romanian magistrates and/or their family members or relatives.

“The three criminal files were established following the complaint filed in September 2025 by the Superior Council of the Magistracy”, stated the General Prosecutor's Office.

Magistrates have been constantly opposed in recent months to the draft law aimed at increasing the retirement age and reducing the amount of the pension, and some have chosen to protest by postponing the deadlines of some trials for long periods of time.
