Calluses no longer interfere with walking: I used forgotten methods – I live without pain and discomfort

Calluses are one of the most annoying foot problems. They cause pain, interfere with walking, force you to change your shoes, lifestyle, and even reduce physical activity. Many people have been trying to get rid of them for years: they treat them, steam them, use various means, but the callus comes back again.

The main cause of calluses is constant pressure or friction. Typically, calluses form where narrow shoes squeeze the toes, hard material rubs the skin, the foot does not distribute the load correctly, a crease appears due to tight shoes, or when there is excess weight and the load is uneven.

When the pressure in one area becomes constant, the skin begins to protect itself – the top layer thickens and a core is formed. It can go deep into the tissue, causing the callus to become painful.

When buying shoes, you should pay attention to quality; choose a pair with the right last, sufficient width, soft upper, smooth sole and good cushioning.

The same applies to the weight of the load on the sole. Old, unevenly worn shoes increase pressure on certain areas, creating ideal conditions for blisters. As soon as the pressure stops being constant, the calluses will disappear.

In addition to the right shoes, your feet need additional care. Our grandmothers also knew ways that really alleviated the condition and helped keep feet in good shape.

1. Baths with soda and laundry soap

An ancient but very effective remedy. This solution softens rough skin, facilitates the removal of corns, and helps to make the feet look well-groomed.

  • Mix warm water, soda and grated laundry soap.
  • Steam your feet for 20–30 minutes.
  • Gently scrub your feet with a pumice stone or file.
  • Lubricate with fat cream or cream with urea.
  • Wear cotton socks.
  • Do these baths for 10 days in a row.

2. A mixture of glycerin and vinegar

The skin cracks and thickens more when it is overdried. Especially in the summer.

Prepare a product from glycerin and table vinegar in proportions 1:1. I lubricate clean feet with this mixture in the evening.

3. Urea baths

Urea is a popular ingredient in foot creams, but can also be used in foot baths. It helps soften thickened skin and keep feet in good condition.

To get rid of calluses, it is important to eliminate the very cause of the pressure, choose high-quality shoes and use proven folk methods. With this correct approach, you can put your feet in order and leave the problem in the past.
