He emphasized that Ukraine continues constructive cooperation with the US. “We expect that the results of the Geneva meetings will now be finalized in the United States,” Zelensky wrote, adding that “Ukraine is working towards a dignified peace.”
The trip was announced a day after on Friday, Ukrainian anti-corruption services searched the Kiev apartment of Andriy Yermak – the head of the office (chancery) of the President of Ukraine and the head of the Ukrainian delegation to talks on ending the war – in connection with the corruption scandal. On the same day, Yermak resigned.
Steve Witkoff, who is to participate in the talks in Florida, is also to head the American delegation that will go to Russia next week for talks with the country's leader, Vladimir Putin.
