Emergency ceilings began to be replaced in a collapsing house with a spire in the center of Krasnoyarsk (video)

In the famous house with a spire at 132 Karl Marx Street, work has begun to replace the destroyed ceilings. This is the first stage of repairs in a dilapidated building, the Popular Front said.

Let us remind you that Newslab previously covered the problems faced by residents of the historical heritage monument. The plaster on the walls was peeling, the window sills sagged and cracked. In February 2023, the ceiling collapsed in one of the apartments. In several more apartments, the ceilings were rotten; the ceilings were supported by wooden beams, and it is not recommended to live there.

Since then, the house on Marksa regularly appears in news reports, even at the federal level. At the end of August, the head of the RF Investigative Committee took control of the investigation into the case of the destruction of a building with a spire.

The problem was aggravated by the fact that in the Krasnoyarsk Territory there are few contractors authorized to work with cultural heritage sites. Bidding for the development of project documentation was declared invalid six times due to lack of applications.

After the intervention of the Popular Front in August last year, a contractor was finally found. Now he has begun installing new floors in the most affected apartments.

“This is just the beginning,” the Popular Front notes. “Repairs of the façade are planned for next year, and a major overhaul of the roof will be carried out in the next three years.”

The residents, many of whom were elderly, maintained the building on their own: they put supports under the rotten ceilings, removed garbage and kept order. Many refuse to move, despite the disrepair of the house, since their families have lived here for several generations.
