The Yenisei River Shipping Company transported almost 3 million tons of cargo during navigation in 2025

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Yenisei River Shipping Company, part of the Norilsk Nickel company, transported 2 million 920 thousand tons of cargo during the navigation period. The executive director of the shipping company, Maxim Votin, spoke about this at a press conference in TASS.
This is almost 10% less than last year and is proportional to the decrease in the volume of cargo transportation in the Yenisei River basin as a whole. The largest volume of cargo—1.7 million tons—was intended for Norilsk Nickel, which corresponds to the 2024 level.
“Norilsk Nickel continues to modernize its own production facilities, is actively implementing a renovation program for Norilsk, and is building new housing and social infrastructure facilities in the Arctic. And we are also actively participating in this,” explained Maxim Votin.
He noted that navigation on the tributaries of the Yenisei is quite short. Taking advantage of the rise in water levels due to melting snow, caravans of ships ascend to hard-to-reach villages, and rivermen have literally one or two weeks to do all this. During this period, more than 200 thousand tons of various cargoes are delivered.
“The Yenisei Shipping Company is the only company that carries out northern deliveries to Podkamennaya and Nizhnyaya Tunguska, since this requires the simultaneous use of a large number of fleet units and high professionalism of the crew. This difficult mission was once again successfully completed, thanks to which the need of Evenk villages for energy resources for the coming winter was closed,” noted a representative of the shipping company.
According to Maxim Votin, the vessels operate to deliver cargo for oil producing companies operating in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The shipping company's fleet was also involved in the Yenisei Gulf: it transported oil, bulk and general cargo for the implementation of the large-scale investment project Vostok-Oil. The volume of cargo transportation amounted to about 350 thousand tons.
This year, cargo delivery went smoothly, without any accidents. All ships have already returned to their wintering places, where the period of repair and preparation for the next navigation has begun. In total, the shipping company annually operates about 400 fleet units.
“The year is not over yet, but, according to our forecasts, the cost of ship repair will amount to 1 million 644 thousand rubles. This is 45% more than in 2024 (1 million 128 thousand rubles). In 2026, it is planned to allocate 1 million 667 thousand rubles for these purposes,” said Maxim Votin.
The shipping company is implementing a fleet renovation program and overhaul of old ships. New equipment is installed on them – engines, heating boilers and power plants.
“We continue the program of retrofitting and reclassifying ships to sea class, which allows us to operate in a large group in the Yenisei Gulf. In addition, the Norilsk Nickel company continues to replenish the fleet of the Yenisei Shipping Company with new vessels. Over the previous 4 years, it was replenished with 10 new sea barges of the BPN 2500 project. 2 billion rubles of investment were spent on this project. This year we have already received 2 new barges of the 1960KM project, and we will receive another 8 of the same in 2026-2027. The total investment in this line of 10 barges will be 1.8 billion. All new barges are universal, designed both for work in offshore conditions and on the river,” explained Maxim Votin.
