The program of the first day at the Women's Handball World Championship + the TV shows

Four matches are played today on the first day of the final tournament. Two matches were played from 19:00, another two from 21:30.

Four matches are taking place today at the Women's Handball World Championship

Today's 4 matches at the WC:

  • In group C, Germany easily defeated Iceland, score 32-25.

  • In group D, Spain beat Paraguay 26-17.

  • Montenegro beat the Faroe Islands 32-27.

  • Serbia beat Uruguay 31-19.

For the Faroe Islands, it will be the first ever match at the Women's Handball World Cup. It is also the smallest nation to ever qualify for a WC.

The preliminary group stage will end on December 2. The top 3 placed in each group advance to the 4 main groups, the pairings being AB (main I), CD (main II), EF (main III) and GH (main IV). Then, the top two national teams from each main group will qualify for the quarter-finals, also with Rotterdam and Dortmund as hosts.
