The United States and Ukraine have prepared an updated and revised peace framework document – a joint statement

The two sides described the talks as “extremely productive” as well as “constructive, focused and full of mutual respect, which underscored their shared commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace.”

The statement said the meetings showed significant progress in agreeing on the positions of the American “peace plan” and determining further steps.

“The parties confirmed that any future agreement must fully respect the sovereignty of Ukraine and ensure a sustainable and just peace. As a result of the negotiations, the parties prepared an updated and revised peace framework document,” the joint statement said.

Representatives of Kyiv once again thanked the United States and US President Donald Trump personally for the peace efforts.

Representatives of the contact groups will continue work on the proposals, which they called “intensive,” in the coming days. The delegations will also be in close contact with European partners.

“Final decisions on this framework document will be made by the presidents of Ukraine and the United States. Both sides confirmed their willingness to continue to work together to achieve peace that will guarantee Ukraine's security, stability and recovery,” the statement said.

Context

On November 23, negotiations on a “peace plan” took place in Geneva with the participation of delegations from Ukraine and the United States; representatives of Great Britain, Germany and France should also be present at the meetings. It was expected that the Europeans would put pressure on the Trump team during negotiations on a “peace plan” for Ukraine, Politico wrote.

In contrast to the Russian-American “peace plan” to resolve the war in Ukraine, the leaders of the European Union countries have created an alternative proposal. This document was allegedly published on November 23 by The Telegraph. Reuters later circulated its version of the European proposal.

Sky News reported on November 21 that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky could discuss a “peace plan” with Trump next week. The US President wants the document to be signed by November 27.
