Polls place her in 5th place in the preferences of Bucharest residents, but analysts from within the main political parties are already talking about a phenomenon that is hard to ignore. She is propelled by a young public, and her campaign emphasizes an issue ignored by other candidates for the Capital City Hall. Ana Ciceală comes to the HotNews studio, Friday, from 11:00, to talk about her stake in a race dominated by traditional parties.

  • The HotSpot political podcast is produced by journalist Laurenţiu Ungureanu, it is broadcast live and can be watched on the HotNews.ro website, on YouTube and Facebook.

“We represent some people who were left behind”, said Ana Ciceală at the beginning of the week, when she officially launched her candidacy for the Capital City Hall elections. It is mostly supported by young people from Bucharest and by those who believe in a new left-wing movement, which emphasizes housing, mobility and green spaces.

Ciceăla was the first candidate to announce her intention to enter the race and is supported by the SENS party, but also by another party created by a former USR member, URS.PDF. She says that she represents a progressive left-wing current, which proposes investments in education, rights in the community, cheap housing and health settled more than now.

Former councilor in CGMB and candidate several times for the City Hall of Sector 3, Ana Ciceală was credited with scores of 3%, maximum 4%, but the latest polls showed a significant increase in the intention to vote in her case. While the AtlatIntel survey, commissioned by HotNews, places her in fifth place, with a score of 7.1%, the latest INSCOP survey credits her with 6.5% at the level of voting intention.

Last year, in the competition for the European Parliament on June 9, the SENS electorate propelled the independent Nicu Ştefănuță into the EP. Ștefănuță obtained 3.08% at the national level, i.e. 275,796 votes. In the 2024 parliamentary elections, the SENS party ran as a political party for the first time. Then, in Bucharest, he got 48,506 votes, that is 5.64%.

Is Ana Ciceăla's rise likely to change the competition for the position of General Mayor of the Capital? The SENS candidate comes to the HotNews studio to talk about her plans for the December 7 local elections.
