The government does not take into account a 10% reduction in salaries in the medical system, announced the Minister of Health, at the end of Thursday's meeting of the Executive. Alexandru Rogobete says that the health system is “under a strain of human resources, which we know very well”.

“At the moment, the Ministry of Health does not have a normative act to cut 10% of doctors' salaries”, announced Alexandru Rogobete.

“We asked for prudence, we asked for balance, because the health system is under a strain of human resources that we know very well. Many doctors do more on-call than the regulations stipulate, because the human resource is unavailable. I don't think it is an opportune moment to operate such cuts in the health system, but their resettlement and correlation with performance pay will bring benefits on both sides,” added the Minister of Health.

He says that in recent months they have been working on “a resettlement and an efficiency of the health system”, adding that reductions of over 300 million lei have been made in 3 months since the medical leaves, following the checks carried out and the tightening of the legislation.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated, on Wednesday, in an interview for ȘtirileProTv, that in the administration reform package a “recommendation envelope” was provided for all ministries to consider a reduction in expenses by up to 10% of the salary envelope, compared to this year. He specified that this does not mean reducing salaries, but each ministry can take measures such as staff reductions, reduction of allowances or other measures.
