Krasnoyarsk ordered another 55 gas-powered buses from the Belarusian MAZ plant.
The mayor's office said that the equipment should arrive at the regional center before April 1, 2026. Buses will be purchased on lease due to savings during competitive procedures. The purchase is financed by Sber-Leasing OJSC.
The equipment will be received by motor transport enterprise No. 5. A contractor is now being determined to supply the buses with liquefied natural gas. The contract is planned to be concluded in December.
“The Belarusian MAZ plant already has experience in manufacturing and supplying gas-powered buses for Krasnoyarsk. The first batch of such cars arrived in the city from this plant. According to the terms of the contract, all equipment must be equipped with a climate control system, air conditioners, and heating devices. Also, the cars must be adapted to serve citizens with limited mobility, equipped with passenger flow sensors and a video surveillance system,” the mayor’s office explained.
Let us remind you that buses using environmentally friendly fuel are purchased for the city on the initiative of the regional governor, Mikhail Kotyukov. By the end of this year, 150 cars should arrive in Krasnoyarsk as part of the first batch of the leasing program. Most of them already work in the regional center on 6 routes. Passengers are transported by the crews of JSC KPATP No. 7.
The purpose of this update is to improve the environmental situation and improve the quality of public transport.
“The acquisition of modern and environmentally friendly rolling stock for operation on city routes will continue next year. We are talking about purchasing the next batch of buses running on gas engine fuel with regional financial support. Relevant events are part of Krasnoyarsk’s preparations for the 400th anniversary and are taken into account in the draft budget for the next three years. Last week, the main financial document was submitted to the city Council of Deputies; it will soon be reviewed at public hearings with the deputy corps and we expect that on December 16 the budget will be approved at a session of the city council,” said the acting head of the city, Roman Odintsov.
