Romania lost on the field of Bosnia with the score of 1-3. The match in Zenica was not without tension, and several events in the stands, but also outside them. The Bosnians addressed numerous racist insults to the Romanians, and the fans who made the trip were blocked several times on the way to Zenica by the Bosnian authorities.

The press in Kosovo reacted to the problems in which the Romanian fans were involved, making them “hooligans” in countless times.

Kosovars reacted after the match between Bosnia and Romania (3-1). They recalled the two matches played by their national team in Bucharest, where several incidents took place. The press from Kosovo specified that the Romanian fans were stopped several times on the route to Zenica, but also the fact that items with Serbian symbols were banned from the stadium.

The Romanian hooligans were stopped 60 kilometers from Zenica. They had stopped in Belgrade during the day and displayed a provocative message of support for war criminal Ratko Mladic.

All the Romanian hooligans were controlled by the Bosnian police, and those who had items with Serbian insignia received special treatment.

Throughout the match, Bosnians addressed racist insults to the Romanians. Spirits were completely inflamed after the Romanian ultras started shouting “Serbia, Serbia”. Bosnians stormed the dividing fence and again chanted xenophobically, “gypsies, gypsies”. At that moment, the police intervened on the Romanians.

The Kosovars also recalled the two games played in Bucharest.

  • in November 2024, the Kosovars left the field, but did not return and lost the match on the green table

  • in both cases they complained of racist and xenophobic chants from the Romanians
