A block of flats and two buildings in Sector 5 evacuated after a gas pipe was damaged during excavations by ApaNova

The incident took place during some mechanized excavation works carried out by Apa Nova on General Medic Demosthen N. Atanase street, in Sector 5 of Bucharest, Distrigaz said in a press release on Friday.
As a result of the incident, Distrigaz stopped the gas supply in the area, and the ISU ordered the evacuation of the tenants of the buildings in General Medic Demosthen N. Atanase street no. 11 and 12, as well as those in block A2, from Bulevardul Eroii Sanitari no. 28, for their safekeeping until the defects are rectified.
This damage affects 469 household and non-household customers located on the streets Petrescu Zaharia, Doctor Capșa Ștefan, Doctor Paulescu Nicolae, Doctor Boicescu Alexandru, General Medic Demosthen N. Atanase, Doctor Bagdasar Dumitru, Carol Davila, Doctor Teodori Iuliu, Ana Davila, Racoviță Felicia, the entrance to General Medic Demosthen N. Atanase and Șoseaua Cotroceni.
The gas supply was stopped at 10.08 and Distrigaz estimates that it will be resumed around 18.00.
Distrigaz informs the residents of the affected areas that, after the resumption of gas supply, if they smell “to call the Gas Emergency Call and Troubleshooting Center at the telephone numbers: 021 9281, 031 9031 or 0800 877 778, to immediately ventilate the room, not to cause sparks, not to operate electrical switches, not to use devices household appliances and, if possible, close the natural gas supply valve”.
