Mihai Rotaru, patron of Craiova, appointed the Portuguese Filipe Coelho (45 years old) in the position of head coach in Bănie, after the departure of Mirel Rădoi. The Olten boss also announced the first move with the arrival of the new technician: goalkeeping coach Daniel Tudor (51 years old) returns to the University!
The Portuguese Coelho will be presented in Banie on Wednesday, at 12:00, during a press conference. He will have a new staff in Craiova, not yet revealed by the white and blue officials. Only one name from the new team on the technical bench was announced by the Rotaru boss, that of the goalkeeper coach.
For Daniel Tudor coming to Craiova is a return less than half a year since he left the south of the country. In the summer, he separated from the Olteni and reached an agreement in Russia.
Goalkeeper coach Daniel Tudor returns to Craiova
“Coelho is coming with at least one assistant, we have a few surprises on the staff. We brought back Daniel Tudor, the goalkeeping coach, and we have a few more surprises. You'll see”Mihai Rotaru, the patron of Craiova, announced on Tuesday evening at Digi Sport.
Daniel Tudor came to Bănie in July 2022, after previously being at CFR Cluj and Al Ittihad, alongside Cosmin Contra, and the last time he was on Costel Gâlcă's staff in Craiova.
In January, when Rădoi returned to Craiova, he also came with another staff, and for the position of goalkeeping coach he brought Robert Tufiși, so Tudor was no longer included in the calculations, and although he remained with the team, in the summer he terminated with Olteni.
After the moment of departure, it was written about the option for Tudor to go to Rapid, where he would have worked again with Costel Gâlcă, but he refused, and finally reached an agreement in Russia, at Torpedo Moscow.
My contract ends at the end of the month, they wanted an extension, but I didn't accept it. It was written that I was more of a decoration since Mirel Rădoi came, so it is. I had no involvement, I just tried to help Robert Tufiși.
You know very well that Mirel came with his staff. If in the first term I took my bag and left, now I stayed because there were still a few months of the contract and I really believed that we would win a trophy. Otherwise I wouldn't stay even now. I made it clear that I would only stay if I was going to be involved in goalkeeper training and lead everything. It didn't come to that and I left. In Romania there are no longer two main goalkeeper coaches, but abroad there are.
I had a sensational relationship with Mirel, we talked about this from the beginning. I accepted, I told you why, plus I have great respect for Craiova University and Mr. Rotaru. I felt very good at Craiova, from all points of view, a professional club. I think we also did good things, especially with Laurentiu Popescu, whom we brought to a pretty good level
– Daniel Tudor, in the summer, for sportpesurse.ro.
