The attempted burglary took place at around 7pm, an hour before Chelsea played Wolverhampton in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge last Saturday. Sterling and his family, including their three children, escaped unharmed and filed a police complaint after several masked men tried to break into the house.
“It is not known whether the criminals thought the 30-year-old player was at the stadium to watch his side's 3-0 victory against the bottom-placed winless Premier League,” revealed the Daily Mail.
Thames Valley Police have already launched an investigation and a spokesman told the quoted tabloid: “Officers are carrying out a thorough investigation and are appealing for anyone with information or who may have seen anyone behaving suspiciously in the area to contact police.”
