Alexandru Pașcanu, 27 years old, scored the goal in Rapid – FC Arges 2-0 with a long shot. At the end, he explained how he ended up being the one to complete that game sequence.

This evening, the stopper Alexandru Pașcanu scored his second goal this season, after he had also scored in the 1-0 against Petrolul, in the 11th stage.

It was a spectacular goal, coming after a powerful shot from a distance, from about 25 meters from Lazar's goal.

But how did the centre-back end up trying his luck in such a manner? At the flash-interview, he came up with a sympathetic explanation.

Alexandru Pașcanu, about how he ended up scoring from 25 meters

“The more advanced phase caught me, Keita had taken my place. I saw that Tobi has it [Christensen] and I said: “Give it to me nicely, I'll knock on the door!”. I hadn't knocked on the gate in a long time. I'll try every time I have the opportunity, but I haven't had the opportunity for a long time,” said Pașcanu to PrimaSport.

“I'm happy to get the 3 points without conceding. That's what we set out to do and I think we all played a good game.

Only two shots on goal? We had several chances, it was Cătă's as well, even if not with a shot on goal… Anyway, I think we played a good collective match. We kept the ball, we knew when to fragment the game well, we looked good in the set-pieces, which we didn't do in the last game. Overall, we are happy.

Last year we lacked these moments where we knew how to fragment the game, we didn't even know each other that well. That is our main asset now that we have formed as a team. Last year was difficult, every week a new player came and it was difficult to build a team like that.

Now we have almost the same dressing room and I think it shows. You also look at the big teams, when you bring in players it takes time to make a real team”, Pașcanu said.

As for the fact that coach Costel Gâlcă still has complaints about the gamePașcanu admitted that there is room for much better:

“Let's keep arguing! Okay, we have a lot of things to improve on, I don't think we've had a perfect match this season, but we're happy to get the results we have and there's still room for improvement.

There are still 24 games until the end, there is still a lot of work and we have to continue like this, train as we have done since the beginning of the season and the results will surely come”.
