His midfielder Tottenham Hotspur, Yves Bissouma (29), was the victim of a massive financial fraud after more than €940,000 was illegally withdrawn from her bank account at Coutts Bank, one of the UK's most exclusive banks for royals and billionaires.
The incident would have taken place between September 2022 and June 2024, during which the suspect would have carried out several unauthorized transactions on the account of the Mali international, according to The Sun.
After the soccer player discovered the money was missing and filed a complaint, police arrested a 31-year-old man, identified as Maurice Gomes, on two counts of fraud by misrepresentation — felonies punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
According to the investigation, Gomes would have made transfers worth a total of 940,000 euros, without the player having any connection or knowledge of these operations. It is unclear how the suspect managed to gain access to the footballer's bank details.
The suspect, a millionaire individual
Maurice Gomes lives in a mansion valued at 1.6 million euros, located in North London. He is due to appear before Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court and if the trial goes ahead, Yves Bissouma will be called to give evidence.
It was a huge blow for Yves. He's had a very difficult year, both on and off the field, and this case certainly hasn't helped.

An unlucky year for Bissouma
This is not the only unpleasant incident in the life of the Tottenham midfielder. In the summer of this year, during the vacation spent in Cannes, on the French Riviera, Bissouma was the victim of a violent robbery, after which a watch worth 255,000 euros was stolen.
Coutts Bank declined to comment on the case, citing banking confidentiality.
The career of Yves Bissouma
Listed at 20 million euros on the specialist website Transfermarkt, Yves Bissouma has been playing for Tottenham Hotspur since 2022, when the Londoners transferred him from Brighton for 30 million euros. In the jersey of the formation for which the Romanian international Radu Drăgușin also plays, Bissouma has 5 successes in 100 official games.
Throughout his career, the midfielder also played for Majestic Bamako, Lille, and Brighton.
For the national team of Mali, Bissouma has 42 selections.
