When asked about the consequences of the strike, Pletenchuk replied: “It’s still being clarified, since different sources provide different information. But they all agree that at the moment when the incident happened, there were at least three ships on these platforms that ship oil.”
According to him, these vessels have a “penumbral status” and it has already been clarified who they belong to.
“These ports are quite important for the Russians in matters of shipping energy resources outside. And the last time this information was available, more or less official, these ports accounted for up to 20% of the crude oil exports of the so-called Russian Federation,” Pletenchuk emphasized.
In his opinion, the attack on the oil terminal in Tuapse will have long-term consequences for the Russian Federation.
Context
Ukraine regularly attacks military targets on the territory of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation. Over the past months, Ukraine has primarily carried out drone strikes on oil and gas facilities (oil refineries, tank farms and gas terminals) as well as military airfields in Russia.
The port in Tuapse was attacked by drones on the night of November 2. The SBU said that five drone hits were recorded. As a result of the arrivals, according to the intelligence service, the tanker caught fire and at least four oil tankers loading and unloading tankers were disabled.
