French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the rare discussions between high-ranking officials in the US, Europe and Ukraine, which he called “a very important moment to harmonize their positions”, in the context in which Kiev Allies are trying to relaunch the cessation of fire, blocked against the background of Transatlantic stresses.

“It is a very important moment to harmonize our positions,” Macron said in English, during the meeting with US Secretary Marco Rubio and the US Special Submit, Steve Witkoff. “I think everyone wants, for sure, peace – a solid and durable peace.”

The meeting took place against the background of transatlantic tensions and the failure of Trump administration to obtain an armistice in the Ukraine war, in the third year. The visit marks the first travel of high -ranking American officials in France after the participation of JD Vance Vice President at the summit on artificial intelligence in February.

According to the official agenda, the head of the Presidential Administration in Kiev, Andrii Iermak, also participated in the discussions in Paris along with two Ukrainian ministers, after having had separate meetings with the diplomatic advisers of France, Germany and the United Kingdom.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that discussion topics include “ways to achieve a complete cease, involve a multinational military contingent, to develop Ukraine's security architecture and to ensure our country's security.”

The Trump administration proposed an armistice last month, accepted by Ukraine, but rejected by Russia. So far, the two parties have approved only partial limitations of attacks on energy and sea infrastructure – commitments that they challenge each other.

After the Russian Sunday attack on the city of Sumî, resulting in civil victims, including Ukrainian Christian believers, Kiev and his European allies preserve Washington to adopt a firmer position than Moscow.

The Kremlin described the Paris meeting as an opportunity for Steve Witkoff – who met for five hours with Vladimir Putin Last week – to inform Europeans about the stage of negotiations about a possible peace solution.
