Real Madrid beat Valencia 4-0 and reached 30 points after 11 stages of the new season. The vice-champion thus ends the day with 7 points more than the second place holder, Villarreal.

HERE, the results and schedule of the 11th round of La Liga

Coming off the back of a convincing win in El Clasico, if not in score then in style, Real Madrid hosted a team that had beaten the 'Bernabeu' on their previous visit.

But Valencia, the current version, has not been working for me for a long time at optimal parameters. That's why it wasn't surprising when the scoreboard showed 2-0 after only half an hour.

La Liga top scorer Kylian Mbappe scored both goals. The first, in the 19th minute, from a penalty dictated with the help of VAR. It had been a double offense at that stage, hench and foul on the Frenchman. The second, in the 31st minute, from the volley, after Arda Guler's ideal cross.

Towards the end of the first half, los blancos benefited from a second penalty. Mbappe would have had the chance for a hat-trick but gave the ball to Vinicius. It was hardly an inspired decision as the Brazilian missed, much to the displeasure of coach Xabi Alonso.

In the end, the hosts entered the cabins with smiles on their faces, because Jude Bellingham scored just a minute after Vinicius wasted that penalty kick.
