For the first time in 29 years, the Chicago Bulls started the NBA season with a 5-0 record, being the only undefeated team in the Eastern Conference. The last time the group from Illinois had such a good start was in the 1996-1997 season, during the time of the legendary Michael Jordan.

Tonight the Chicago Bulls played their 3rd straight game at home and beat the New York Knicks with 135-125. The Bulls' leaders were Josh Giddey (32 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists), Nikola Vucevic (26 points, 7 rebounds) and Ayo Dosunmu (22 points, 9 assists)

On the other side, Jalen Brunson (29 points, 7 assists), OG Anunoby (26 points), Mikal Bridges (23 points, 6 assists) and Karl-Anthony Towns (22 points, 10 rebounds) stood out.

Chicago Bulls, 5 wins in first 5 games: 'We love playing each other'

Thanks to this victory, the Chicago Bulls reached a record of 5-0, being the only undefeated team in the Eastern Conference.

“The mentality that they believe in is very, very strong. I think when there's trust, things are really good. There's a good connection and good relationships. Everybody can talk to each other. I think there's a lot of positives that lead to wins,” coach Billy Donovan said, as quoted by ESPN.

“We all love each other, we love to play with each other. And when you enjoy the people you go to work with every day, things become a lot more fun and enjoyable,” said Josh Giddey, who is averaging 22.0 points, 8.0 assists and 8.8 rebounds this season.

The Chicago Bulls haven't had such a good start since 1996

The last time the Bulls got off to such a good start was in the 1996-97 season under Michael Jordan. Then, Phil Jackson's team finished with a 69-13 record and captured their 5th title and 2nd in a row after defeating the Utah Jazz 4-2 in the Finals.

The last decade of the last century was dominated by the Bulls, who, having in Michael Jordan an exceptional basketball player, considered the best of all time, won 6 titles (1991-1993, 1996-1998).

After the last title, the Chicago Bulls never reached the NBA Finals again, with their best performance being the Eastern Conference Finals in 2011, when the team was led by star Derrick Rose.

In the last 3 seasons, the Billy Donovan-coached squad missed the playoffs, finishing 9th twice and 10th once.
