Until now, Real Madrid were one of the few big clubs that continued to hold their last training session at the stadium where the match was to be played, in the event of a move.
That will change on Monday, however, as Xabi Alonso has decided that his players will train at Valdebebas at 11am before heading to Liverpool in the afternoon for a Champions League game at Anfield on Tuesday.
They will only visit the English stadium for the mandatory pre-match press conference. This is a UEFA requirement that cannot be changed. Thus, only the coach and a player, chosen by the club, will be present at the stadium before the match.
With this decision, Real Madrid returns to the methods of the Mourinho era. The Portuguese coach was the first, and so far the only one, who preferred to give up training at the opponent's stadium to hold the last meeting at Valdebebas, according to sportal.bg.
To date, the “galacticos” have played two matches at home in the Champions League (against Marseille and Juventus) and one away (in Almaty), which did not allow the team to train at home due to the complexity of the trip. The team then had to leave for Kazakhstan on Sunday for a game on Tuesday.
On Monday, Real Madrid will train at 11:00 local time at Valdebebas. After rest and lunch, the team will depart for Liverpool at 16:00, expected to land at 17:35 local time. After arrival, the players, the technical staff and the rest of the delegation will stay at the INNSiDE by Meliá Liverpool hotel.
Meanwhile, Xabi Alonso and a footballer, accompanied by the communication department, will head to “Anfield” for the official pre-match press conference.
