VIDEO Are we more vulnerable? An “epic fail” related to the withdrawal of American troops

In a discussion in the HotNews studio, journalist Victor Cozmei analyzes the consequences of the withdrawal of American troops from Romanian territory and explains why communication is Romania's “true vulnerability”.
Defense Minister Ionuţ Moşteanu admitted that, in the case of reservist mobilization exercises, the biggest problem was one of strategic communication. Journalist Victor Cozmei believes that the same thing was seen with regard to the announcement regarding the withdrawal of almost 1,000 American soldiers from Romania.
“From the point of view of the American presence, we are better off than when the war in Ukraine started. Compared to that moment, we now have a NATO battle group established and operational, led by France, which numbers 1,700 foreign soldiers and which can be raised, if necessary, to brigade level, i.e. 5,000 soldiers”, says journalist Victor Cozmei.
He also talks about the role that Romanian diplomacy could have in strengthening the strategic partnership with the USA, and about the way in which the political decision-makers managed the communication regarding the reduction of the military presence in Romania.
The Minister of Defense, Ionuț Moșteanu, gave a press statement on Wednesday morning after the US decision regarding the “resizing” of American troops in Europe, including Romania. About half of the US soldiers in Romania, about 1,000 of the 2,000 present, will withdraw.
He said that he learned on Monday about the US decision to withdraw part of the military from Romania, but that he did not make it public because “it was supposed to be a coordination” with the United States, but in the meantime the information was found out by sources and reported by the Ukrainian press.
