Patrice Evra (44), the former defender of the “Old Lady”, has launched a harsh attack on the current players of Juventus, whom he considers directly responsible for the dismissal of coach Igor Tudor, after the streak of eight matches without a win.

The Frenchman, who wore the shirt of Turin between 2014-2017, sent a sharp message on social networks, in which he criticized the lack of involvement and the mentality of the new generation.

“When a manager is sacked, it means the players haven't done their job. It happened to me only once in my career, at Manchester United, when David Moyes was sacked, and I felt terrible. I hope the Juventus players feel the same now,” Evra said.

“When you play for Juventus, you have to take responsibility”

The former international explained that modern football has lost the values that defined the great teams of the past:

“When you play at Juventus, you have to take responsibility. The problem is that the new generation is too soft. We lived for football, we trained, played, ate and slept. Now, many are more concerned with image, fashion, social media. They are brands, not footballers.”

Evra ended with a direct message for the Turin locker room:

“If you don't want to play for Juventus, then leave. You got rid of the coach, so you have no more excuses.”

Juventus is now preparing for a new change on the bench, after parting with Igor Tudor. Luciano Spalletti is set to become the Bianconeri's sixth coach in the last five years, after Allegri, Sarri, Pirlo, Motta and Tudor.

Officially retired in 2019

In his career, Patrice Evra played for CO Les Ulis, Bretigny, Marsala, Monza, Nice, Monaco, Manchester United, Juventus, Marseille and West Ham. For the national team, the left defender collected 81 selections.
