The racing driver, who was called a Formula 1 star, stabbed his father to death during an argument. What did he say in court?

The athlete said that he stabbed his father, also Antolin Gonzalez Sr., in the neck with a knife during a family quarrel. The murder occurred in July 2025 in the Spanish city of Aranda del Duero. The rider was detained in the neighboring city of Sinovas, where he fled after the murder, and arrested.

The Spanish publication La Sexta writes that 56-year-old Gonzalez was still alive when the ambulance arrived.

In court, the driver's lawyers stated that at the time of the murder he was under severe psychological pressure. Gonzalez Jr. himself added that his parents recently divorced, and his mother filed two complaints against his father for abuse.

As the Spanish publication Record notes, Gonzalez Jr. said that on the day of the murder, a violent scandal broke out between him and his father. According to the rider, during the conflict his father brandished a dagger 10–15 cm long, and then they began to fight. During this fight, he accidentally hit his father in the neck.

Hhugo Gloss writes that the driver is cooperating with the investigation and showed the police where he allegedly left the knife, which has not yet been found. Gonzalez stressed that he acted in self-defense.
