Coach Andrea Mandorlini (65 years old) signed the termination of the contract with CFR Cluj, the day after the 0-1 with Petrolul Ploiesti, in the 13th stage of the SuperLiga.
Thus, after the arrival of Iuliu Mureșan as president and the defeat in the match with Petrolul, the Transylvanian team decided that Andrea Mandorlini would no longer be the team's coach. Dan Petrescu (57 years old) will return in his place, informs DigiSport.ro on Tuesday evening.
CFR Cluj announced the parting with Mandorlini through a message posted on social networks: “Thank you, Andrea Mandorlini! The CFR 1907 Cluj club and the technician Andrea Mandorlini have stopped collaborating starting this evening. In the next period, our second coaches, Laurențiu Rus and Ovidiu Hoban, will take care of the team's training. We thank Mr. Mandorlini for the work done at CFR Cluj in his three terms as coach of our team and we wish him much success in the future!”.
In place of Andrea Mandorlini, Dan Petrescu is expected to return to CFR Cluj, according to Digi Sport. It would be his fifth mandate at CFR Cluj. Petrescu left Transylvania for the last time in the summer.
Ioan Varga, the patron of the CFR, confirmed the return of the “Badger” to Gruia. “Yes, it's true. In principle we understood. He still has a bit of treatment to do, 2-3 weeks. Until then, Hoban is training and then he will come back”, declared Ioan Varga according to as.ro.
