Thanks to the surprise success in Shanghai, Valentin Vacherot (26 years old, 40 ATP) tripled his fortune, earning more than one million dollars. A few days after the title in China, the Monegasque explained what he will do with the money.

On Sunday, October 12, Valentin Vacherot became champion in Shanghai, after a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win against Arthur Rinderknech (age 30, 28 ATP)his first cousin. The 26-year-old scored his 9th consecutive victory at the tournament in China, starting from the qualifiers.

Valentin Vacherot won over 1.1 million dollars in Shanghai: “I will continue to invest”

Beyond the huge jump in the world rankings, Vacherot took home a major financial prize, tripling his fortune. Before the tournament in Shanghai, the Monegasque had earned $594,077 from tennis. For the title won on Sunday, he cashed a check for $1,124,380.

So, at this time, Vacherot's total tennis earnings have reached $1,718,457. Invited for an interview with the Tennis Channel, the Shanghai champion revealed that he doesn't think too much about money and explained what his plan is.

“The money I've made is the last thing on my mind these days, but everyone reminds me of it. In any case, I have already told my parents to come with me to Melbourne for the Australian Open 2026 and I will continue to invest in tennis training, taking members of my team to tournaments and looking after what is next in the second part of my career“, said Vacherot, quoted by Punto de Break.

In Shanghai, the tennis player ranked 40th in the world achieved 9 victories, surpassing players such as Alexander Bublik, Holger Rune or Novak Djokovic. It is impressive that, in 6 of the 9 matchesVacherot lost the first set but managed to come back.
