The Ministry of Defense carries out in Bucharest and Ilfov County a mobilization exercise in which several reservists were called to the military units to which they are shown for training activities, but several of those who were called criticized the way they were convened when they were presented.

According to the MApN, “between October 12 and 20, in the municipality of Bucharest and in Ilfov county, the mobilization exercise will be carried out to verify the stage of preparation of the population, economy and defense territory MOBEX B-IF-25”.

“The Mobex exercises are carried out periodically and aim to verify the completion of the military and technical units, as well as the consolidation of the cohesion between reservists and the military in activity,” the Ministry of Defense said in a press release.

Several reservists from Bucharest and Ilfov County have been convened at the MApN units that are shown for specific training activities.

In the municipality of Bucharest and in Ilfov county, similar exercises were carried out in 2013, respectively in 2021. This year there were two other Mobex exercises, in May, in Teleorman, Giurgiu and Olt counties, and in September, in Sibiu and Mureș counties.

Call to exercise, they haven't reached the polygon

According to Digi24, thousands of people who made the army before 2004 were called. According to the procedure, the reservists receive call orders and must be presented on the indicated date.

However, there were also organizational problems. Among those who criticized them are journalist Liviu Avram, who told in G4Media how, first, he received a wrong address, and then he would not shoot with the weapon.

He said that at the address in Clinceni on the call order there was no military unit and that dozens of people gathered on an empty field, until one of them learned that they had to reach Cornetu.

There were hundreds of people, who stayed for about two hours to perform formalities and receive armament, so that they would finally be asked to surrender the weapons because they do not go to exercises because there are not enough buses to transport them.

“Good luck was someone at home.”

The ultramarathonist Andrei Rosu also received a call order on Tuesday, the athlete criticizing the fact that he received the paper just two days before and without more useful information.

Andrei Roşu wrote on Facebook that he received the order from a policeman who came to the door: “Good luck – otherwise, I probably wouldn't have known anything until that day and probably chose a fine.” If a reservist does not appear without a well -founded reason, the fine can reach up to 4,000 lei, according to the legislation in force.

The athlete said that the document should have contained some practical information:

  • where exactly the exercises are performed (in the barracks or on the ground),
  • What kind of equipment do we have to bring,
  • If we need to have food or water to us,
  • a contact number of the unit, for questions or clarification.

“It seems important to me that people are treated with respect and transparency, especially when it comes to army and mobilization obligations. Not everyone has a simple situation – some work, have businesses, children, medical problems or live in other cities,” added Andrei Rosu.

The athlete also posted the photographs the document received and “the obligations of the possessor of the order of calling for exercises and mobilization training”.
