Gold submits a motion against Minister Florin Barbu: “It bears the responsibility for this disaster on the Romanian economy”

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (Gold) announced on Monday, October 13, the submission of a simple motion against the Minister of Agriculture, Florin Barbu. The formation accuses the minister of indifference to the problems of the farmers and of the fact that he failed to ensure a significant contribution to agriculture to the national economy.

Gold deputy Călin Matieș declared, in the Parliament, that the decision to submit the motion is motivated by the constant decrease of the contribution of agriculture to the GDP of Romania, in recent years.
“The motion we submit today against Minister Florin Barbu is based on the lower participation of agriculture at the GDP of Romania. Last year, following the farmers' strike, of the 14 points requested by them, the minister treated with indifference 8, did not even include them in the discussion. Three points were addressed Superficial, and three others were resolved by the European Union ”said Matieș.
According to him, the data shows a collapse of the share of agriculture in the national economy: “If, in 2022, before Mr. Barbu took over the ministry, agriculture contributed 4.5%to the GDP of Romania, in 2023 this share decreased to 3.9%, in 2024 to 3.2%, and this year the participation is zero”.
The Deputy Gold stressed that the motion is not only against one minister, but against the entire ruling coalition. “It is not about a person or a particular party, but about the entire ruling coalition, who has the last word to say and bears responsibility for this disaster on the Romanian economy“He added.
