This is how peace in Gaza came about. Everything changed on Wednesday

As the German daily writes, negotiations between Israel and Hamas stalled at the beginning of the week. “Only when Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, intervened was the way to key compromises opened,” it was emphasized.
In the first days of talks, which began on Monday, there was little progress.
The points of contention included:
- scope of Israeli troop withdrawal,
- conditions for the release of hostages,
- humanitarian aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip,
- and the question of which Palestinian prisoners would be released.
“On Wednesday, Witkoff and Kushner arrived together with the prime minister of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thanito the place of negotiations in Egyptian Sharm el-Sheikh. They presented a number of conditions to both sides and insisted on quick consent,” it was noted.
“Die Welt” notes that only a few hours later the outlines of an agreement began to emerge. “The extremely rapid pace at which the agreement was concluded was a clear signal of how much pressure the U.S. government, led by Donald Trump, had increased on both sides,” it said.
According to sources in negotiation circles, U.S. envoys demanded that Israel begin withdrawing troops before Hamas released the hostages — one of the key compromises that paved the way for the agreement.
The talks dragged on into the evening, but an agreement seemed increasingly within reach. On the night from Wednesday to Thursday, Fr 2:30 Egyptian timeTrump – as reported by senior officials of his administration – consulted his negotiators for the last time.
Shortly thereafter, he announced on his Truth Social platform that the conflict was over.
