The investigation carried out by SBU concluded that the suspect, who lived in the city of Liov (West) was recruited by Russian secret services about a year ago and received several missions, referring to the results.
In the beginning, the missions were easy, for example to transmit the positions of the Ukrainian troops and to find out the schedule and routes of trains carrying fuel.
After which they decided that Simlnikov is prepared to carry out a greater complexity: an assassination on a sensitive Ukrainian target.
According to the SBU investigation, the Russian secret services offered him the necessary training for this purpose and financed the steps preceding the crime.
Thus, before the ordered murder, the recruit monitored the daily program and Parrubi's travels.
According to investigators, the suspect was going to leave the country after the mission was accomplished.
The law enforcement forces held him before he could do it in the Hmelnițki region, while trying to leave the country.
“Based on the new evidence, the actions of the suspect were additionally framed in Article 111.2 (high treason committed under the martial law), article 112 (attempted in the life of a member of the Parliament committed in relation to his state or public activities) and article 263.1 (illegal handling of weapons) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine”, a statement of Ukraine is stated.
Andri Parubi, deputy and former president of the Supreme Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) was shot several times in the street and died on the spot.
A special police operation, with the siren code name, was launched to locate and catch the perpetrator. The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, announced on the night of August 31 that a suspect in this case was detained.
At the searches of the apartment, law enforcement discovered ammunition, military badges, two pyrotechnic devices and several cartridges.
