54 out of 100 senators voted for the draft extended extended at the end of September on November 21, while 44 were against. Two senators – one in each party – were absent. Although for the third time the project gained the support of three senators in the opposition of the Democrats (one Republican again voted against), it was not enough to overcome the required 60 votes threshold.

Earlier, a Democrats project was also rejected, containing additional funds for subsidies for health insurance in a system colloquially called Obamacare. This voting went according to party divisions, 46-52.

Fiasko means that the paralysis of most federal institutions from Wednesday will be prolonged until Monday, because the Senate's republican management has not planned additional votes over the weekend. The cause of the impasse is the demand for democrats to restore subsidies to insurance, without which they think the insurance costs will radically increase.

On Friday, the Republican leaders in Congress John Thune and Mike Johnson stated that they were open to negotiations in this matter, but only after the provision of the makeshift. However, they refused to make hard commitments to compromise in this matter.

The spokeswoman for the White House Karoline Leavitt said that cracks inside the democrats are visible and expected that ultimately a sufficient number of senators from the opposition will agree to vote for the “pure” provisional maker to finish the costly shutdown.

Despite this, the previous polls indicate that more voters blame the ruling party and President Donald Trump than the opposition. In Thursday's “Washington Post” study, 47 percent respondents were blamed by Republicans, while 30 percent – Democrats.

The pressure on Democrats was also increased on Friday by the head of the Management and Budget Office (OMB) in the White House of Russell Vought, which announced the suspension of paying funds for investments in infrastructure in Chicago Democrats ruled by Democrats. The clerk known for its intercession for radical budget and administrative cuts had already announced possible mass dismissals of federal employees, as well as suspension or cancellation of investments in infrastructure and green energy in New York and a number of other states dominated by Democrats.

From Wednesday, about 750,000 were sent for forced vacation. federal employees. Those who remained at work – including Soldiers, service officers, flight controllers and others – will not receive payment until the budget resumes.
