Romanian citizens, men and women, between the ages of 18 and 35, will be able to request the Ministry of Defense to participate, voluntarily, in a basic military training program, according to a draft law for amending and completing Law no. 446/2006 regarding the preparation of the population for defense, located on the agenda of the Government Thursday.

The training program will last up to four months and will be followed by those who have not performed the active or reserve military service, according to AGERPRES.

The registration in the program will be made on the basis of a commitment signed on its own responsibility, by which the applicant, declared apt following a selection process, agrees to fulfill the military training program.

During the program, the soldiers/volunteer grades in the term will benefit free of charge of accommodation, equipment and food, medical assistance and medicines, as well as monthly allowance, similar to the military in the term. They are also subject to the provisions of military laws and regulations.

Will become part of the Operational Reserve of the Army

Citizens who have completed the basic military training program receive an allowance representing three gross average earnings used to substantiate the state social insurance budget for the year for which the payment is made.

The military centers highlight them and introduce them into the operational reserve.

The maximum number of places available for military training as a volunteer soldier/graduated in the term is approved annually, by order of the Minister of National Defense, according to the approved funds.

The draft law amends and completes Law no. 446/2006 regarding the preparation of the population for defense.
