In England, an unexpected invasion of octopuses, “devouring everything in their path”

Local fishermen said that Boom Osminov began this summer, every day they became more and more. Such volumes, they say, were a surprise to everyone. Scientists associate this with warming of water, which creates favorable conditions for an octopus population.

Many crews of trawlers rejoice at the growth of the catch of octopuses, and among those who catch crabs and lobsters, anxiety reigns. Some even count potential losses. The fishermen said that they repeatedly pulled out half -empty networks with empty shells and the remains of other representatives of the sea fauna. They note that octopuses devour everything in their path and that they are “evil animals” that actually displace other species.

NYT notes that octopuses are very smart, they quickly adapt and are able to hunt harder, which makes them especially dangerous for the sea balance.

Environmentalists called their mass appearance “invasion”, which can have long -term consequences for the British seas.
