The seventh child who was admitted to the “Saint Maria” Children's Hospital in Iași and infected with the Bacteria Serratia Marcescens, and who had been transferred to Bucharest in the meantime, died on Monday morning, medical sources told HotNews. The child had been transferred to the “Grigore Alexandrescu” Hospital in Bucharest and had been denied to the Bacteria Serratia Marcescens.

The child also suffered from another serious illness – a cardiac malformation, say medical sources, for hotnews.

Other six children suffering from other associated diseases died at the “Santa Maria” Hospital in Iași, after being infected with the bacteria of Marcescens Serratia, a nosocomial infection.

Three more children are infected with the same bacterium.

The Minister of Health Alexandru Rogobete, told Hotnews on Friday that the “Saint Maria” Children's Hospital in Iași reported “too late” the epidemiological situation in the Intensive Care section. He said, however, that at this moment “we cannot make a direct connection between associated infections and deaths.”

The Iași Public Health Directorate has initiated an epidemiological investigation, and the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, sent to Iași the control body and the state sanitary inspection.
