A man from Tulcea was detained for a crime committed in 1999. As he was identified after 26 years by DNA evidence

A man was detained after DNA tests indicated him as an author of a crime spent 26 years ago, in Tulcea County, the General Prosecutor's Office announced in a press release. The victim was a 75 -year -old woman, killed in her own home, on the night of July 25 to 26, 1999.
According to prosecutors, the man would have entered the victim's house, where he had sexually assaulted, through violence. In order to prevent him from alerting his neighbors, he would have continued to hit her, causing him serious injuries that were fatal. The woman was found in the morning, naked, under a metal bed in the house.
Identified by DNA samples after Better than two decades
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the identification was possible due to a genetic expertise performed on the biological traces raised from the place of the crime in 1999, compared with the genetic profile of the defendant in the database of the national system of judicial genetic data.
