Ukraine announces sanctions against several politicians in the Republic of Moldova, a week before elections / Victoria Storm and Evghenia Guţul, on the list

One week before the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski has imposed sanctions against pro-Russian politicians, according to newsmaker.md.

“Ukraine helps Moldova and we are interested in the stability of our neighbor-the success of Moldova,” said the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, in a message transmitted on social networks.

On the list of 11 names are Evghenia Guţul, the Başcana of the Autonomous Gagauzia region of Moldova. Guțul received the 7 -year sentence in the file of illegal financing of the “Șor” Party, declared unconstitutional in June 2023.

The list also includes Victoria Furtuna, the leader of the “Moldova Mare” party, which participates in the parliamentary elections on September 28, after being registered in the race following the intervention of the Supreme Court of Justice.

BCS Constantin Starîș and Bogdan Țîrdea – both candidates on the list of the patriotic block of the Socialists, Communists, the heart and the future of Moldova for a new term.

Also, sanctions were applied against the deputy Vasile Bolea, affiliated to the Șor group, as well as Dmitri Konstantinov, the president of the Popular Assembly of Gagauzia.

Other names included in the sanctions list are: the former SIS employee, the activist Ion Mahu; APG deputy Victor Petrov; The leader of a veteran organization, Iurie Ciofu, the leader of the “Renaissance” Party, Natalia Parasca, as well as the pro-Russian analyst in the Transnistrian region Igor Șornikov.

The measures provide, among other things, to block assets, commercial and financial restrictions, but also entry prohibitions in Ukraine. The sanctions are applied for a period of 10 years, with the possibility of being extended for an unlimited term.
