The Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, told Digi24 on Saturday that he and the honorary counselor of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan have different opinions in terms of “dosage and method we want to impose in the way we reformate ANAF”.

Previously, Ionuț Dumitru had declared on the same television station that the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) must be reformed from the foundations and offered the example of Greece, which “simply abolished the previous entity and re -established another independent, outside the government, with professionals appointed there, with very well defined goals”.

Asked if he agrees with the scenario mentioned by the prime minister, the Minister of Finance said that he also believes “there are extremely many dysfunctions in ANAF”.

“So from this point of view we are aligned as opinions and we are in contact. Both myself and the prime minister counselor know very well what is the attitude we have printed in the last two and a half months in ANAF. The only differentiation is linked to the dosage and the method we want to impose on how we reform ANAF,” added Alexandru Nazare.

The minister said that “the expectations we have regarding the increase of income, for the fulfillment of this year's budget targets must be taken into account.”

“” Probably in an ideal world we could abolish institutions, re-establish them and in a few months nothing happens, only that Romania has some very important targets. We need income. ANAF in the last two months has shown that it can get billions in addition to an income plan that was made at a very high level, so a very good level, Of course, this institution must be reformed ”, continued the Liberal.

“I speak of the reform of the institution, not about its abolition”

Alexandru Nazare said that the ANAF reform must be made “on new bases”.

“I speak of the reform of the institution, not about its abolition, but the reform of the institution on new bases, including a much more rigorous selection of the staff, including the reform of certain key departments (…) or the way, the philosophy in which the controls are made, the way the insolvency, the agreements, the arrears are treated.

Referring to the “extra billions” that ANAF brought “in the last two months”, the Minister of Finance said that “a question of will”.

“When you have a software, and have a software made on international criteria, which brings together 11 databases, which can detect fraud-caruse, which detects very complex frauds, which is integrated with artificial intelligence, keep it in a drawer and you do not use it, does not mean that the institution does not work, it did not have to use all the will to use. disposition now.

He said that “change has no way to happen overnight.”

“This institution has too much inertia and too many problems gathered in years to be transformed into an efficient institution in two months, but I think it is a good trend, it is a good direction in which it is heading,” concluded Minister Alexandru Nazare.
