Storage Bags for Harvest Begin Distribution in Sumy Region

In the Sumy region, the distribution of grain storage bags has commenced, with the first 57 units received by three agricultural enterprises. These bags will enable the temporary storage of approximately 10,000 tons of grain. Ongoing shelling in frontline areas has caused agricultural producers to lose machinery and storage facilities, making these storage bags a vital solution without the need for additional infrastructure.
As part of the program, a total of 1,516 grain storage bags are set to be distributed among 257 agricultural producers across the Sumy and Donetsk regions. This assistance will cover 48 communities in nine districts. The initiative is being implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Food Programme, Mercy Corps, and the Ukrainian Red Cross, with support from the U.S. government in close collaboration with the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, as well as the governments of Canada, the European Union, and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation. This support aims to help agricultural producers in frontline territories preserve their crops and maintain continuous operations amid the ongoing conflict.
