Calls for NBU Head Andrii Pyshnyi to Resign Amid NABU Investigations

NBU Governor Andrii Pyshnyi is urged to resign by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak from the Holos party. Zheleznyak stated that Pyshnyi should submit his resignation voluntarily, a remark made on Wednesday amid ongoing searches by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) at the National Bank of Ukraine. Zheleznyak emphasized that it is not a secret that there may soon be suspicion against the NBU head, highlighting that the National Bank is a crucial institution and should not have its leadership changed under political pressure. He suggested it would be appropriate to see Pyshnyi’s own resignation letter, which could be considered by the parliament on October 26.
In response, Andrii Pyshnyi asserted that NABU detectives found nothing indicating any wrongdoing by him or other NBU officials, claiming that the investigation does not involve the National Bank or his performance in office. However, Zheleznyak pointed out that parts of the court ruling related to the searches have already circulated on Telegram channels, indicating that the investigations pertain specifically to the role of Vasyl Veseley, the company “Karpatnaftokhim,” and its influence on “Sens Bank.” He concluded by stating, “This is what needed to be proven.” Should Pyshnyi resign, first deputy Serhiy Nikolaychuk will take over his responsibilities.
