Marius Croitoru, aged 46, head coach of FC Botoșani, is gearing up for a significant clash against Dinamo on Friday, October 16, at 21:00 at Arena Națională, as part of the 12th round of the Superliga.
During the pre-match press conference, Croitoru praised Dinamo, calling them the “team of the moment,” while expressing his belief that his players could pull off an upset in the capital.
Dinamo is currently enjoying a strong season, leading the Superliga with 26 points from their first 11 matches, while FC Botoșani sits in 10th place with 14 points. However, Croitoru remains confident that the table does not fully reflect what might happen on the pitch.
The coach also indicated that he is considering changing the team’s formation for the upcoming match against Dinamo. He clarified that the winning team from the previous match against UTA Arad does not guarantee the same starting lineup for this game.

In his analysis, Croitoru acknowledged that Dinamo starts as the favorite based on their current form. He noted that the Bucharest side has improved significantly compared to last season, becoming more direct in their attacking play, while also pointing out potential weaknesses.
“This will not be an easy match. Every game holds its importance, with three points at stake. If we consider their current performance, yes, it will be a challenging encounter,” he stated.
He expressed his hopes that his players would meet the expectations of their supporters and understand the importance of their attitude on the field. Croitoru emphasized that while Dinamo is a formidable opponent, his team is also capable of making an impact.
“I don’t think any team is solely strong. Each has its strengths and weaknesses. Don’t assume Dinamo is an unbeatable team in Romania,” Croitoru remarked during the press conference.
“I am considering changes to our system”
When questioned about maintaining the same lineup that secured victory against UTA Arad in a 4-3-3 formation, Croitoru stressed that no player has a guaranteed spot in the starting eleven. He emphasized the importance of training intensity during the week and the need for the team to harness their collective strength.
“A winning team can change if the players do not train at the desired level in the week leading up to the match. Just because you played in the last game does not mean you will play if you don’t meet our training expectations,” he explained.
“We are still a team that relies heavily on group strength. We have individuals who can shine, but they must understand that preparation is key to achieving the desired performance,” he added.
Croitoru Analyzes Key Dinamo Players: “Threats Come from the Entire Team!”
Responding to questions about the offensive efficiency of Dinamo’s Pascual, Croitoru noted that a player’s statistics can fluctuate significantly between seasons. He cited Pospyelov, a central defender who scored 15 goals in the last two seasons, as an example.
“Pascual, if you look at his history, had no goals before coming to Romania. His current form indicates he is a player capable of scoring in Romania. For sure!” Croitoru commented.
“The danger comes from their entire team! They have a very good squad, which is why they are at the top and receiving praise. They are the team of the moment,” he added.
I believe the stadium will be nearly full. This is their moment, and for the last 20 years, everyone would have wished for times like this. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for them until now, but they are in a good place, and I am convinced many Dinamo fans will be present at the match. Do not assume they aren’t aware of what Botoșani can show! Like us, they recognize our value. We also have many positive aspects and players who can create issues. They must analyze us well. A draw or even a win would not be bad! We are aware of their strength, but we are equally determined. I hope for a beautiful match with plenty of goals from us.”, said Marius Croitoru, head coach of FC Botoșani.
