Kimberly Guilfoyle Hints at Resignation Amid False Allegations

Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. Ambassador to Athens, indicated on Tuesday that her appointment might be nearing its conclusion, although she firmly asserted that the allegations against her are unfounded.
This statement comes in light of a request from the White House for her resignation, following a report by the Wall Street Journal which accused her of soliciting a Republican donor to pay off a $100,000 credit card debt prior to her Senate confirmation hearing in July 2025.
The report claimed that in exchange for this “favor,” Guilfoyle would provide the donor access to the White House and senior officials in President Donald Trump’s administration.
Additionally, the WSJ noted that during a confrontation with the Greek Minister of Energy in March, she hinted that the United States had a role in the political situation that led to the ousting of Ilie Bolojan’s government through a no-confidence motion on May 5.
“These Allegations Are False”
Without specifying which allegations she was addressing, Guilfoyle labeled the accusations as “false.”
“These allegations are false, and I intend to steadfastly defend my name, reputation, and integrity. I have dedicated my professional life to fighting for justice, advocating for what is right, and upholding the values that make America exceptional. I will not allow false allegations to define my decades of public service,” she stated in a message on Twitter.
The ambassador also expressed her “respect and gratitude” towards President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, stating it has been “the honor of her life to serve the United States of America.”
“During my tenure, I contributed to historic agreements to expand U.S. liquefied natural gas exports to Europe, promoted the Vertical Corridor to reduce Europe’s dependency on Russian energy, strengthened our defense and security partnership with a key NATO ally, and expanded opportunities for American businesses and investments across the region,” Guilfoyle added.
This is a developing story.
